Chrome OS, sideload Android APK simplified processing
Allow side-loading of Android apps on Chrome OS is currently only possible using the developer mode, but Google is working to implement it in a way that is less complicated for the user. The current goal is the version 74 or 75 of the system, but no promises, because it may be delayed (as already happened in the past: we talked about it over a year ago, for example). The information comes directly from a developer and Google, which has responded to a user request in the bug tracker of the system (link at the bottom of the article to the voice SOURCE).
According to the tables, running the official, Chrome OS, 74 should be released towards the end of April or mid-June; but the respective feature freeze, i.e. the dates on which you do not implement more new features, they are more neighbors - precisely the 22 February and 5 April. The most careful observers will use these dates to track the source code and make more accurate forecasts about the availability.
Let us briefly recall that sideload is a term that became popular with Android, which means great lines to install an application manually, instead of from the Play Store (or stores alternative). On Android anyone can do it, provided you can tick off the famous option "unknown Sources" in the settings. On Chrome OS, instead, you need to enable developer mode: practice that is not recommended to normal users, as it disables some security features. Unfortunately, and ironically, on Chrome OS, the sideload is a lot more useful than on Android: many apps in the Play Store are not compatible with chromebooks and tablets, and Chrome OS, although in practice, are in perfect working order.
