Candyman: Jordan Peele will produce the remake?
It should not be surprising, therefore, that we are discussing a remake of Candyman by Bernard Rose, the original film based on The short story The Forbidden by Clive Barker; but it is the name that is in relation to the project that should excite fans of horror.
According to Bloody-Disgusting, the writer/director of Escape – Get Out Jordan Peele, one of the creative most talked-about Hollywood, not only in the circles of horror, is attracted by the idea of producing a new film Candyman.
The rest of the film rights to Candyman are still available, after that Tri-Star distributed the first two chapters of the franchise and Artisan has made a third film in 1999. However, regardless of who holds the rights now, Peele and his production company, Monkeypaw Productions, are currently in talks to produce a remake. It is not clear if Peele has some interest in directing personally the project.
Almost 20 years have passed by when there is a movie Candyman, and, as The day of the death of 1999 is released for home video, has passed even more time from when the series was in the halls.
The original Candyman was released in 1992 and was played by Tony Todd in the role of the protagonist's character.
