Blue Beetle: DC and Warner Bros. to develop the film
TheWrap is reporting that DC and Warner Bros. have appointed Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Scarface, Miss Bala) to write the screenplay of the Blue Beetle film adaptation of the eponymous hero.
The version of the character chosen by the studios would be the most recent and most well known by the younger audience or one created by Keith Giffen, John Rogers and Cully Hammer in 2006 and appeared for the first time on Infinite Crisis #5 and this was followed by three series regular and that the main protagonist is the teenage origins of the hispanic Jaime Reyes.
This version of the character is the more sci-fi with Jaime who discovers a strange scarab with friends, Paco and Brenda, who during the night is active, and merged with his spine. The fusion, however, allows Jaime to have a suit of armor, “multi-purpose”.
Zev Foreman will be the executive producer and while they don't have news on cast and director, the Blue Beetle would be the first cinecomic with a protagonist is hispanic.
