Bloodshot: Valiant relaunches the series in anticipation of the film
Bloodshot will also have a new regular series in September, shortly before debuting on the big screen next February.
Deadline reports that the new series will be written by Tim Seely (Hack/Slash) and drawn by Brett Booth (Teen Titans, Batman Beyond), with covers by Declan Shalvey. Also, a very special adventure written by Seely with art by Tomás Giorello will be distributed as part of Free Comic Book Day 2019.
“I do not feel I have to reinvent Bloodshot,” said Seely, “I have To do is tell a great story and crazy, that can only be done in comics, and I need it to be powerful, emotional and important in a way that only comics can do. I want to go back to the beginning and tell a story of a boy who was created to be a weapon but does not allow anyone to use it ever again. He is an outcast, a stranger, and can't help but use her indestructible body to help people, even if everything does end up in trouble. With a great power comes a great quantity of shells!”
Another pillar of the Valiant Universe, Bloodshot is an antihero who gets superhuman abilities thanks to the nanites in his body. The upcoming film adaptation – which sees Vin Diesel is the protagonist – is the first step of a shared universe of five films based on the characters from Valiant.
