Blade Runner 2049 is a flop to $ 80 million

Published on Nov 09, 2017

Just like it happened to Blade Runner the original Ridley Scott in the summer of 1982, the sequel to 2049, signed by the director of Enemy and Killer resulted in economic loss, substantial.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the cost of production of the film will stand around $ 150 million (plus another hundred for the costs of marketing, including the sponsorship campaign for the Oscar race 2018). And after the bankruptcy launch of the film on the chinese market, the payouts for today are still at the altitude of 240 million, a figure far below the expectations of producers.

The situation is so interesting as paradoxical: the critics (especially the american one) it has helped a lot of the new Blade Runner, crying, almost unanimously (even exaggerating) the masterpiece. The public apparently seems not to have responded to this, and now the production house Alcon and its investors are at risk of a loss of the mighty 80 million dollars.

What do you think has sanctioned the defeat of the economic of the film? The excessive running time (over 2 hours and a 40)? The dark tones and contemplative?
