Beyond Blacksad – Juanjo Guarnido on show in Rome
For the first time in Italy thanks to the collaboration between the Cervantes Institute of Rome and the ARF! Festival, Juanjo Guarnido comes in the show with Beyond Blacksad, a creation of the Galerie 9e Art.
From 16 may to 29 June 2019, in Rome, at the Sala Dalí in piazza Navona 91, the exhibition presents thirty original drawings of the designer is Spanish, originating from its flagship Blacksad (20 works), but also, in a european exclusive , from his new work Les Indes Fourbes (10 works), the output of which is expected in the fall.
Animator, illustrator and cartoonist from Granada to the USA – where, in addition to the collaboration with Marvel Comics, Juanjo Guarnido was also one of the animators of the tip of the Tarzan Disney – up to the true and proper consecration in France. Back in Italy, with a show almost entirely devoted to his most famous character: Blacksad, one of the works of noir more appreciated on the international scene, where – on the texts of Juan Dìaz Canales – Guarnido has already designed five books for the French publisher Dargaud, turning it into a publishing success and translated and published in many countries of the world!
But not only Blacksad and his New York years '50 inspired by classic yellow hard-boiled, because the exposure of the roman and the famous cat is anthropomorphic, and has an extraordinary preview: the original plates of Les indes fourbes, the new graphic novel by the author of the Spanish, still unreleased in the whole of Europe.
