Arrowverse: first official image of the Monitor from the “Elseworlds”
The crossover of this year, more of an alternate universe (and in part already introduced with the Multiverse and the Lands) will have the center of the story an alternate timeline with the presence of Monitors is very significant: the actor chosen by The CW for she brought the character is LaMonica Garrett, who will therefore be in the role of the extraterrestrial has a great power, Mar Novu (called Monitor). In the comics, the character was created (by Marv Wolfman and George Perez in 1982) to orchestrate the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths, combining the heroes of the Multiverse to face the wave of anti-matter the Anti-Monitor. Below, the first official image of the character, published by the magazine Entertainment Weekly:
“LaMonica in the role of Monitor is absurd, something really intimidating,” she explains to the magazine Gran Gustin “it Looks like a monster of the absolute, of the details that make the phenomenal character without interpretation. And’ amazing.'
The image, as we see, shows the character set in the ones that seem to be the consequences of an explosion. To save the Earth or, in any case, the situation, there will be yes the Green Arrow and the Flash, but with their identity as a “slightly” different . As we have already seen, in fact, Barry Allen will wear the hood of Green Arrow and Oliver Queen will wear the suit of Sprinter Scarlet, with a crossover that not only will take the name from the line of comics out of the continuity, but they will inspire them in everything and for everything.
From the set, now comes the first image, published by the same actor, that sees Amell in the shoes (literally) of Flash with John Wesley Shipp (Jay Garrick), where we see the new costume, a clear tribute to the one of the years ’90 worn just by Shipp in the previous tv series dedicated to the Sprinter Scarlet.

It is not clear whether, having regard to the possibilities opened up by Elseworlds, Shipp will have a role like Jay Garrick, or as some of the other speedsters. From the set come in addition of the new images that they see Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) is wearing a new and iconic black costume:

What remains to understand is why the character wears this type of costume, but, because of the title, the answer seems to be very simple. In addition to Superman, as we know, there will be even Lois, who will be played by Elizabeth Tulloch: in addition to demonstrating on Instagram all of his excitement for the imminent work together with her friend Danielle Panabaker and Tyler Hoechlin, the actress has also revealed how the historical interpretation of Margot Kidder as Lois was by her, in the beginning, very much appreciated and a source of inspiration.
Excuse me while I fangirl for a moment: I am so excited (thank you Warner Brothers, the CW, DC Comics, @gberlanti, @davidrapaport, Jessica Queller et al) to be playing the iconic Lois Lane on the Arrowverse crossover episodes. And I can't wait to work with my friend @dpanabaker and of course @tylerhoechlin 😉 When I started acting, one of my teachers asked me to watch the screen tests for the role of Lois Lane for 1978's Superman. All of the actresses were terrific, but it was always clear to me why Margot Kidder won the role: she seemed lit from within, full of joie de vivre. Now, at a time when the noble profession of journalism feels under siege, it's a privilege to join the club of actresses who have played the dogged reporter. As far back as 1938 when she first appeared in Action Comics #1, Lois Lane has defied and subverted society's expectations of how women should behave. She was portrayed as opinionated, inquisitive, and an unapologetically badass career woman at a time when many representations of women leaned more towards meek and demure. One of the reasons the character has signs of so compelling for the last 80 years is that she has all these formidable, strong-willed qualities, but she's also vulnerable, romantic, and feminine. A truly modern woman. ❤️
Another reference to the world of Man of Steel is the presence of the farm in Kent that will come to life in the same location used for Smalville:

The crossover, as you well know, was orchestrated to introduce you to the best Batwoman, who will enter the full title in the Arrowverse a few months after the event, with its series of stand-alone. This is the first description of the character of Ruby Rose (as reported by That Hashtag Show):
“Kate is aware of how charismatic and dangerous when he enters a room full of people; whether he prefers to smile, the young Kane is physically and intellectually proud to be a woman, and openly gay. However, Kate still fights with his inner demons, dating back to the complicated relationship with his father and continue the fight to get his respect and trust. In the past aspired to have a brilliant military career and dreams sadly broken when it is expelled from West Point once you exit the closet, and despite this it has not prevented to become a fighter against crime, known by the name of Batwoman. Taking advantage of the fear in the criminals he fights, Kate clashes constantly with the complications of living a double life, both as a town and as a heroine of Gotham, and protect himself with the shield of the costume on crime-fighting, and being rather vulnerable in the situations romantic with other women”. Among the other new characters even Nora Fries, interpreted by the wife of Stephen Amell Cassandra Jean.
Earlier, interviewed by Digital Spy, some of the stars of the Arrowverse have tried to describe the event without going into all the details, stressing that this time you will learn more about psychology and personal history of the individual protagonists.
“I can't say much, but when I described the project I thought it was fantastic. Last year was an event of monumental, no one can achieve something greater, we will focus therefore on the psychology of the characters and their history” the words of Amell, which then underline the different approach to this crossover compared to that of last year. “Kara during the seasons he was able to do funny jokes about Batman and his thought, I am curious to see how it will interact with the Batwoman” explains Melissa Benoist.
The crossover “Elseworlds”, the length of the three evenings, will begin on December 9.
