Japan Display will provide OLED displays for the new models of Apple Watch 5-Series expected to launch in the second half of 2019, according to the latest forecasts of the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

In a research note TF the International Securities shared with the chinese media, Kuo has predicted that Japan Display will gradually increase its proportion of orders OLED display for the Apple Watch, starting from 15-20% of the orders in 2019 and reaching 70-80% in 2021.

Kuo believes that Apple will gradually increase the percentage of the supply of LG OLED display for iPhone and the chinese manufacturer BOE will be a vendor add-in, in an attempt to diversify their supply chain.

The models of the Apple Watch Series 5 will probably be unveiled next month with a trio of new iPhone. It would not be a surprise, since the models from Series 1 to Series 4 were launched, all in September.

Kuo had previously stated that a “new case design in ceramic” would have been “added” to the range Apple Watch, but has not mentioned explicitly the models of the 5 Series. Reuters also reported that Japan Display would start to provide OLED displays for the Apple Watch, but similarly has not specified the models of the 5 Series.

Looking further ahead, some rumors suggest that Apple models Watch Series 6 will adopt the display MicroLED in 2020.
