Apple's Champs-Élysées: opens Sunday the new parisian store
Apple The Champs-Élysées. This will be the name of the new Apple Store that opened Sunday, on the homonymous avenue. It is a store very special, made with the intent of paying homage to the rich history and creativity of the host city, Paris.
Housed in a building of the time Haussmann, and the inner courtyard has been transformed into the largest Forum of Apple, dedicated to the free sessions Today.
Apple offers more than 18,000 sessions Today all over the world every week, all focused on creative passions, such as photography, music, coding and design. In the first week, the Apple store on the Champs-Élysées will host sessions with musicians, filmmakers, animators and much more.
This is the comment of Angela Ahrendts, senior vice president, Retail of Apple:
The energy in Paris is electric and will be one of our major cities with regard to the sessions Today. I hope anyone who will visit the Apple store on the Champs-Élysées will learn something new.
The result of a careful fusion between historical and modern architecture, the design of the shop honors the past of the building, introducing modern spaces. The façade and the entrance were meticulously restored and the stone burgundy exterior can be found throughout the building. Parquet floors made of French oak are the upper floors, all of which aim to revive the original spirit of the building.
These are the words of Jony Ive, Chief Design Officer of Apple:
Work within a historic parisian building is a great responsibility and a phenomenal opportunity. Our first priority was to honor the history of the building, updating it in detail to create spaces that are grand and intimate. Plans carefully woven are warm and full of light, to celebrate the timeless spirit of the city.
Many of the features of the design also have an environmental impact. A light filters from the roof sculpture that covers the courtyard, providing sunlight to the space below and generating renewable energy with photovoltaic panels. An integrated system of rainwater collection provides water for the bathrooms, the trees and the green walls.
Like all of Apple's facilities, also the Apple store on the Champs-Élysées is powered 100% by renewable energy.
More than 330 employees, including more than 100 new employees, welcome customers when the store opens on Sunday. The group represents 15 nationalities and speak 17 languages, with more than 200 employees who are joined by other Apple stores in Paris and around the world. As mentioned before, Apple's Champs-Élysées will open next Sunday at 12:00.
