Apple patented Straps for the Apple Watch with built-in FaceTime camera
The next evolution of the Apple Watch will be represented by straps intelligent able to add some functionality via a hardware appliance modular.
Apple is studying the different possible ways to add a camera to the Apple Watch. The aim will be not to use the watch to take photos but to handle FaceTime video calls, adding a further independence from the smartphone.
In the patent, the cameras are two, both in the upper part of the strap, close to the screen. The solution seems to be the most reliable because it would not force the user to tilt the wrist in an excessive way and then, through the software, the footage from both cameras may be combined to form a larger image.
An Apple Watch modular, with hardware integrated into the straps to extend the functions of the device, it would not be a bad idea. Think of the straps that can increase the life of the battery or to integrate other components and sensors for the monitoring of sleep and physical activity, as well as the health. The possibilities become almost endless.
