Apple Oriocenter closes temporarily due to the outbreak of coronavirus

Apple will close temporarily one of its retail stores in Italy, while the government is grappling with the spread of the COVID-19 in the country, which so far has been the country most affected by the coronavirus in Europe.

Apple Oriocenter, in the province of Bergamo, will be closed march 7 and 8, according to the regional Web site of Apple, on the order of the Italian government.

As required by a decree of the President of the Council of Ministers issued last week, all the shops of medium and large sizes, as well as commercial outlets in shopping centres, in the provinces of Bergamo, Lodi, Piacenza and Cremona will be closed Saturday and Sunday to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Similar measures have been established for other provinces and territories.

The number of deaths has increased in Italy, which is now the country with the highest number of deaths in the world outside of China, where it has been the source of the viral outbreak. In the last 24 hours, 27 people died of the disease in Italy, bringing the total number to 79.

At the beginning of February, Apple has closed all of its offices, stores and contact centers in China, but many shops have reopened since the outbreak seems to be slowing down. There were 119 new cases confirmed in China on the 3rd of march, compared to the 125 the day before.
