Apple opens its first Apple Store in Kyoto, Japan
Announced a few days ago, officially opens today, the first Apple Store created in the beautiful city of Kyoto, Japan.
The new Apple Store is located at Shijō Dori. The street, surrounded by many famous temples and shrines of Kyoto, is the main commercial centre of the city from the 1600's.
The architecture of Apple's Kyoto takes inspiration from the design and from local materials, with a top floor wrapped in a coating of semi-transparent inspired by the lanterns of the japanese. Also the lightweight timber-framed and the special paper used for the facade of the upper floor is intended as a tribute to the traditional houses of the Country. The building is developed around an atrium multi-level, which is also the point at which the shop offers the daily sessions free Today at Apple about photography, music, programming and much more.
The inauguration was welcomed by hundreds of customers, who have been waiting so ordered the opening to be able to visit the new Apple Store.
Japan was the first country outside of the United States in which it has been opened an Apple store: in Tokyo in 2003. Apple is expanding its retail presence in the Country. In the next few years will open new stores and will see the refurbishment of many others.
