Apple joined the board of directors of the Didi Chuxing, the “Uber of china”
After the investment of $ 1 billion, Apple has joined the board of directors of the Didi Chuxing, a chinese company that provides car rental services with driver and car-sharing.
The investment of 1 billion dollars has strengthened the position of the Didi Chuxing in China, so as to force Uber to sell its local activities at the chinese company. Apple has joined the board already in the month of June, but the official one has arrived in these hours.
In the council of the Didi Chuxing, Apple will be represented by Adrian Perica, a former banker of Goldman Sachs and was for years in charge of the most important acquisitions made by Apple.
Currently, Didi offers a variety of transport services in the whole China, such as taxis and private cars, as well as services of car-sharing and car luxury rental. The company's goal is to overcome national boundaries and become the first competitor at the global level of Uber. The partnership with the Didi Chuxing could help Apple to accomplish the Titan project, dedicated to the much chat iCar.
Meanwhile, Apple has confirmed the opening of a new research and development centre in Shenzhen, in collaboration with Foxconn. The opening is scheduled for the end of 2017.
