Apple has permanently removed the 3D Touch from the iPhone 11

After four years, Apple has permanently removed the 3D technology, the Touch by the new iPhone 11. The gestures remain, however active, thanks to the introduction of the Haptic Touch, which is already present in last year's iPhone XR.

Apple has introduced for the first time, the 3D Touch with the iPhone 6s in 2015. This new technology allowed to detect the different intensity of pressure on the screen of our device. At the same time, however, occupied considerable space under the hood. With the passing of the years, the company from Cupertino has made several changes to the software to take better advantage of the 3D Touch, but the technology has never caught on in a clear manner. The actions available with the 3D Touch can be really useful, but do we really need more pressure to activate them, or we can settle for a long press?

To answer this question, Apple has in fact created a “test device” called the iPhone XR. The smartphone released in the last year, in fact, had the Haptic Touch in place of the 3D Touch, which did not detect a higher pressure, but simply produced a vibration feedback when performing a prolonged pressure. Apparently users are not sorry for this implementation is simpler and less expensive, and a few have really felt the lack of the 3D Touch.

This year, Apple has continued with this philosophy, removing the 3D Touch is not only from the model of the “economy” of the line iPhone 11, but also by the models Pro. The gestures have remained exactly the same in iOS, but beneath the hood it is freed of the space to accommodate a more capacious battery. The autonomy of the new iPhone 11, in fact, is greatly improved compared to last year, especially for the models with OLED that they finally abandoned the 3D Touch.
