Sal Soghoian, Apple's Product Manager of Automation Technologies, will leave the company in the month of December, and his place will not be replaced by other people. This means that Apple will slow down the development of the service management automatic on Mac like AppleScript and Automator.

Soghoian announced his retirement during the MacTech San Francisco, confirming that Apple has deleted his post which he has held since 1997. For Apple, services management automated on the Mac are no longer a priority and, even if they are not eliminated altogether, will suffer to a stop in the development. Services such as AppleScript and Automator are not still updated in time, given that Apple is focusing more and more on IA linked to Siri, and on the functions that are closest to the needs of the average user.

During his 20 years at Apple, Soghoian has worked on many products and technologies, including UNIX CLI (shell, python, ruby, perl), System Services, Apple Events scripts (JavaScript, AppleScript, AppleScriptObj-C Scripting Bridge), Automator, Apple Configurator (AppleScript, Automator), and the various scripts on Photos, iWork, Finder, Mail, and other Apple applications.
