Apple continues to expand in India

According to Reuters, India Ravi Shankar Prasad, minister of Information Technology, said that Apple is currently expanding its production activities in the Country.

An unconfirmed report had previously suggested that a small number of models, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 7 were exported from India to Europe, but the statement today is the first official confirmation that this is part of what Apple plans for the country.

Initially Apple began with the production of the iPhone IF in India for the local market, but has gradually expanded its assembly capacity in the country. Reports indicate that at least five different models are in the stage of implementation in India:

The colossus of Cupertino is already using the indian firm Salcomp to produce iPhone, but in the next five years will produce chargers, and other components that are not specified.

Salcomp will invest approximately $ 278.7 million in its plant in south India near Chennai. Prasad expected that the expansion will create 10,000 new jobs.

He also confirmed that the iPhone made in India will be exported, and estimates that this maneuver will lead to each year, $ 1.6 billion in the country.

Changes in the laws of india on the limitations related to the components of local origin and of foreign are helping Apple and other suppliers of the company, that it feels are investing $ 1 billion in the country to meet the demand.

Apple is already producing the iPhone in India and is said to have been recently selected a part of Mumbai for its first Apple Store in the country.
