Apple begins to ship iPhone made in India in the european markets

More than two years after the first iPhone devices IF they have been assembled in India, Apple is exporting some of the iPhone made in India in the european markets.

The news comes from the three people aware of the plans of Apple, who have stated that the assembler of the iPhone Wistron has recently started to export some models of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 7, from India to Europe (via The Economic Times).

The iPhone were built into the structure of Wistron in Bangalore, and have been exported around 100,000 units per month. Apple has started this process some months ago, in a move that should further confirm India as one of the centres of assembly and production of the company outside of China.

According to the industry observers, Apple is treating India as a centre of production and a significant market” for sales of devices. The company will start producing models of the iPhone high-end locally in India by Foxconn, and up to 70-80% of the output of these devices could be exported elsewhere.

Apple is focusing the efforts in India in the hope of expanding production outside of China, in the wake of the trade war between the United States and China. Last summer, Apple unveiled a new strategy in India with retail shops official, improved the relationship with the independent resellers, sales more frequent and more apps and services improved.

Some of these plans have begun to materialize, given that Apple has now finalized a list of locations for its first retail store in India.
