Andrzej Sapkowski (The Witcher) a guest at Lucca Comics and Games 2019
Andrzej Sapkowski was born in Łódź, Poland, in 1948. Although he started studying the economy, manifested great interest in the stories and fantasy literature, so the ’90s began publishing a series of stories starring the strigo Geralt of Rivia.
In 1986 published in “Fantastyka”, the first magazine of fantasy literature in Poland, his first story, “The Witcher”, which has undergone a considerable success from the critics and readers. Following such success, “The Witcher” is a fantasy saga that includes both anthologies of short stories such as “The guardian of the innocent” and “The sword of destiny”, both novels such as “The blood of the elves”, “time of war”, “The baptism of fire”, “The tower of the swallow” and “lady of The lake”; all of which were published in Poland between 1992 and 1999, and the crown as one of the authors of the genre the most popular in the country.
The author also wins numerous literary awards at home and abroad and, in 2007, CD Projekt develops a video game of RPG based on his works, entitled, precisely, “The Witcher”. The game, which has sold over 1 million copies, is distributed by CD Projekt in Poland and Atari in the rest of the world. 19 may 2015 release “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”, the third chapter of the series in video games.
At the end of 2019 will also be released the TV series on “The Witcher”, which is produced by Netflix.
Sapkowski will be present in Lucca, thanks to the collaboration with the Publishing the North.
