AirTag: Apple has “almost” officially unveiled this new product

A few minutes ago, on the YouTube channel of Apple Support, it was published a video in which the company explained how to initialize the iPhone before you sell it or before taking it in for service.

Among other things, showed how to turn off Find my iPhone, essential step to perform because it requires the user's password, and there is no way to circumvent this protection.

So far everything is ok, if it were not for the fact that Apple had left out a small detail. It is likely that the version of iOS used to make this video was superior to 13.4.5 because in a screen of the video you could read the following words:

“Enable Offline Finding”

Offline finding enables this device and AirTags to be found when not connected to Wi-Fi or Cellular.

Translated, this means:

In fact, the AirTag to be able to send the position in which they are found, they need bluetooth connection to a mobile phone, from which it takes the internet connection and update the data on the map. When you lose, then an object, even away from home, it is clear that AirTag could not work because the iPhone is far and thus cannot provide you with the connection to the internet required. Apple then invented the Offline Finding that default will be enabled on all iphones. It is enough that any person with the iPhone is to go even faster in the near of our AirTag, the object will automatically connect (and in a hidden manner) to that phone, taking advantage of the internet connection of this person to update their position online and rendercela visible on the app Where it is. In this way we will get a data update and we'll go to recover our lost object.

With this video Apple has revealed nearly everything, so also the name of the product. The video was removed from YouTube, but now it was too late.
