Adobe focuses on the Photoshop for iPad and it also works for a version of Illustrator for the iPad

Following a recent report by Bloomberg according to which Adobe continues to be committed to release the promised app Photoshop CC for iPad by the end of 2019, John Gruber of Daring Fireball has offered some additional information on the plans of Adobe.

Gruber says that Adobe focuses on the Photoshop for the iPad that treats it as a “serious high-level project for creative professionals“.

Citing “multiple reliable sources“, Gruber explains that Adobe is “is pointing really really all about Photoshop for iPad“. According to reports, the company has significantly expanded the team of engineers that worked on the project to add new features:

What I have heard, from multiple reliable sources, is that Adobe is focusing really on Photoshop for the iPad. See it as a serious project and the high-level creative professionals. The team of engineers working for it has grown significantly compared to a year ago and has plans to add features in an iterative fashion according to an aggressive program.

Gruber also notes that users of Photoshop for the iPad “should be very excited about its basics,“ as well as “the attention that Adobe is paying to the details of a user interface of Photoshop touch-first“.

Photoshop for iPad is real, because it uses the same code base running on the desktop for decades. It is a technical result extraordinary. Photoshop for iPad is not complete – and the initial release was never planned – because it exposes only a subset of features from the desktop version.

A report last week has explained some of the difficulties that Adobe has had to face to bring Photoshop on the iPad. That report explained that the key features of Photoshop CC, such as filters, pen tool, libraries of custom brushes, RAW editing, and more, will not be available at the time of the launch.

In a separate report, Bloomberg says that Adobe is also working on a version of Illustrator for the iPad. It is said that Adobe is planning to present a preview of Illustrator for the iPad at the conference, Adobe MAX in November and will release the app in 2020.
