A prosecutor in New York would ask for a federal law to force Apple and Google to unlock the iPhone is seized.

Cyrus Vance, district attorney of New York, have asked the administration to Trump to help create a federal law that forces Apple and Google to remove the encryption of default from their smartphone.

The county of New York, is in possession of 423 iPhone without the ability to unlock them even with a mandate and this would be the mase of the request of the prosecution.

Currently, the system of encryption built-in devices of the californian company prevents anyone to access the data stored in an iPhone without knowing the access code. Vance would have called the situation an “unsustainable arms race between private industry and the forces of law and order“.

According to a statement from Vance, the 10% of the iPhone stored in the proxy would point to cases of murder or attempted murder, while 9% would refer to crimes of a sexual nature.

It is likely that requests of this kind from the forces of law and order will increase with the settlement of Trump as the President of the United States, especially considering his previous statements during the election campaign.
