A look at the headquarters of Nintendo in 1889
Nintendo was founded by Fusajiro Yamauchi in 1889, and was specialized in the production of Hanafuda cards. Thanks to a historic project, now, we can take a look at the company's headquarters in Kyoto in the year of its foundation.
“Memories of Kyoto, 150 years after the Meiji period” is a project aimed at documenting the history of the city in the years from 1868 to 1912. In a post, then shared by Florent Gorges and Isao Yamazaki, is told the history of Nintendo, along with a photo depicting his first home (at the bottom of the article).
The founder of Nintendo, Fusajiro Yamauchi, whose real name was Fusajiro Fukui, was at the head of Haika, a company specialized in the production of cement. Subsequently, he was adopted by his boss, Naoshichi Yamauchi, is a widespread practice in Japan, in order to maintain the company a “family business”.
Nintendo, then, it has remained a family business until 2002, when Satoru Iwata took the place of the great-grandson of Fusajiro.
