We offer a review of the season 2019 of the thirty-two teams in the NFL: expectations, results, future. Today is the turn of the New England Patriots.

In a franchise such as that of the New England Patriots, and with a roster of players of the caliber of Brady, it is useless to deny that the goal of every season is to win the title; the news of the retirement of Gronkowski had generated a bit of discontent in Foxboro, but arrivals, in free agency to DeMaryus Thomas, and N Keal in the draft, had taken sides new in attack of the Patriots, and new weapons available to Brady, now 42-year-old, but still able to dominate the league, as success in the course of the playoffs last year. The leadership of the Patriots then replaced Trey Flowers, who went to the Lions, and Malcolm Brown, New Orleans, with Bennet from the Eagles and Pennel from the Jets, thus giving a new face to the defensive line of the Patriots. The aim was to reconfirm the samples, although never before in this season, the doubts aleggiavano around Foxboro.

In the worst possible ways. For the first time since 2009, the Patriots have not obtained one of the first two seed in the AFC, so having to play the playoffs in the Wild Card Weekend, at home against the Titans.
The season began as expected: in the first eight games the Patriots led for the 18th season from the coupled Brady & Belichick, they found eight wins; in week 9, however, comes the trip to Baltimore against the lanciatissimi ray rice, Lamar Jackson, who inflict the end of the season, the Patriots, exposing all the weaknesses of the team Massachusetts: the attack doesn't turn to perfection as in the last few years, and the defence, so far impeccable, suffering from the raids of Jackson & co, not being able to find a way to neutralize the attack of Baltimore. After the bye week, the Patriots returned to victory, winning the two consecutive games against the Eagles and the Cowboys; between week 13 and week 14, however, came two defeats important, first against the Texans at home, and then against the Chiefs, this time in the house, which is revenge so of the defeat in the play-offs last year. To condemn New England to the Wild Card, however, is the defeat of week 17, against the Miami Dolphins (not won against the Pats since 2008, ndr), with the Patriots then forced to skip the bye week and play against the Titans in a more and more explosive Derrick Henry. When we look at this game in a few years will be remembered as the end of an era: in fact, this is the last game of the Tom Brady jersey Patriots, and if that wasn't enough, the last ball is thrown in by Bardy is a pick-six that finally closed the game on a 20-13 for the Titans, and leads to premature exit from the playoffs, for the Patriots.

It seems that there were two seasons within the same: up to week 9, the Patriots seemed to be the usual war machine, steamroller, capable of dealing with an attack not in the best shape; after the defeat against the Ravens but the Pats are not to come back those to the beginning of the season, and then it becomes difficult to even understand what worked and what didn't. The receivers are perhaps one of the best news of the last season: Edelman, and N Keal Harry, though not much used, have been among the best in the season, and the arrival of the Sanu before the deadline has improved even more a department that is already well supplied. Benjamin Watson is definitely not Gronkowski, but on the occasions when he was called on the field, the 38-year-old has performed well.
The defense of the Patriots was literally dominating in the first half of the season, especially the secondary, but then always go “fading away” until you get to the ugly figure of the wild card against the Titans, with a Derrick, Henri the true protagonist of the meeting.

Certainly Antonio Brown: the WR, the former Steelers and Raiders have played only one game for the Patriots before being released for problems extracampo, and it is only one of the things that are not working in New England this year. The attack has struggled a lot, for the whole season, and the recent news of the goodbye of Brady not calms, of certain spirits, with the board of call to find a solution to not getting into a spiral of tanking and seasons bankruptcy. Another important downside of the Patriots is the lack of a real playmaker in attack: Edelman tries, but fails, as the bread of the caliber of Gronkowski, able to drag the team both physically and mentally, and once again, the departure of Brady does not help.
Brady has not had his best season, and for the first time in years failed to turn a normal attack into an attack on the Super Bowl, concluding in the worst way the season and his career in New England.

Now for the first time after 20 years, the Patriots find themselves 'chasing': Brady has jumped ship, signing with the Buccaneers, and New England has remained so without a QB. If that wasn't enough, the Patriots need to fix the line offensive, find a new YOU and find a solution to the involution of the second part of the season of the defense and, more generally, of the whole team. The Patriots have the 24th pick in the draft, but probably fish a QB in the turns higher as we have shown Belichick and the leadership in the latest occasions (Garoppolo 62° choice, Brissett 91° choice, Brady 199°). It is essential, however, that the arrival of a QB, maybe even going fishing in the market of free agents, where there is still for example a Cam Newton available.
