During the second event dedicated to the spring launch of its new products, xiaomi also presented its first folding smartphone of the family me mix: here is the new mix fold. Unfortunately – at the moment – the distribution outside the Chinese market is not previewed, but it is still interesting to give a thorough look to the new folding. The flexible panel is supported by a new u-hinge that allows the smartphone to withstand more than 1,000,000 opening/closing processes (although xiaomi tests have stopped at 200,000).
As for the front panel, however, it is a 6.52″ amoled unit in 27:9 with refresh rate at 90hz, sampling 180hz touches and resolution of 2520 x 840 pixels. In this case the average brightness is 650 nits, while the maximum is always set at 900 nits. Both screens can use an algorithm that allows you to increase content resolution and make automatic overscaling from 720p to 1440p.
Freezing c1 allows access to a new algorithm that – according to xiaomi – improves shots under low brightness conditions, makes autofocus more efficient, improves white balance and automatic exposure. Care for audio and softwareFinally, xiaomi showed special care regarding the audio and software compartment of the mix fold (although it will still be based on miui 12 and android 10, at least according to the official technical sheet). Xiaomi has however thought to enrich its folding with a desktop interface that allows to improve productivity on the main display, to which the split-screen support is added for using two apps at a time.
Among these it is even possible to carry out operations such as drag&drop, making sharing elements even faster. With regard to the audio compartment, this has been edited by Harman kardon and includes a quad speaker system that allows to oufruire an integrated 3d and spatial audio system. Price and availabilityxiaomi mi mix fold will be available only in cina from April 16 to the price 9.999 yuan (about 1.297 euros) for the version 12/256GB and 10.999 yuan (about 1.426 euros) for the variant 12/512GB.
Together with these will arrive a ceramic variant from 16/512GB that will be proposed to 12.999 yuan (1.686 euros). According to the company, the new logo was designed around the alive concept, alive, and aims to confirm the consolidation of xiaomi as a player within the top of the market. With this passage, the transition process started in recent years – starting from redmi separation – which led xiaomi to explore increasingly premium solutions for its flagship products.
The new logo was designed by kenya hara, professor of musashino art and president of the nippon design center (ndc).
