TV sales in 2021 will increase by 3.1% compared to last year, for a total of 223 million units. Numbers were provided by trendforce analysts in the latest report drawn up on forecasts for the current year. Between the driving factors are mentioned two important sporting events: the tokyo and euro 2020 Olympics, both postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic.

However, there are also some critical issues: prices are increasing due to two concomitant factors. To exemplify the current trend is brought the example of the 32 lcd panels”: Prices have risen steadily since June 2020 until reaching a peak of 134%. With regard to the size of the TVs, trendforce argues that the attention will move even more towards the larger cuts.

In terms of technology, the lcd will have to compare with the already mentioned increase in the prices for the panels. For these reasons it is believed that the oled range will become a strategic priority in the offer of many brands for the premium segment.
