Linn has announced a full review of the Majik DSM, a product that integrates virtually everything you could ask for an audio device. The manufacturer defines it as “One box does it all: just add speakers” (“only one device that can do everything: add only the speakers”). Majik DSM is a stereo amplifier that also allows you to perform the streaming from your PC, local network and from various online music services.

10 years of experience gained by the release of the first model have been used to improve all aspects, from the digital-analog conversion to the end, passing to the volume control and the feature. The DAC is based on proprietary technology Katalyst. The new Majik DSM offers a better upsampling (resampling of the songs in higher quality), and contains the more effectively the jitter.

The amplification section uses two Class-D amplifiers with 100 W each. The optimization of the sound is entrusted to the technology Space Optimisation (debuted in 2015), capable of analysing the characteristics of the room and take them into consideration to compensate for these effects. To exploit it is, however, necessary to rely on a technical Linn Specialist.

Connectivity is ample with four inputs and one output HDMI 2.0 with ARC allow you to integrate the product into audio-video installations, by connecting, for example, media-player or player Ultra HD Blu-ray. There is also an optical digital input and a coaxial (also configurable as an output), an Ethernet port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an analog input on RCA, configurable as phono MM input, an analog output on RCA connectors for the speakers and a headphones output-front jack 6.3 mm.

There is also a port USB Type-B connection to a PC to act as an external DAC. Majik DSM supports the songs in FLAC, ALAC, WAV, DSD64, DSD128, MP3, WMA (not lossless), AIFF, AAC and OGG. The maximum sampling frequency is 192 khz / 24-bit. Users can listen to music via Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify Connect, AirPlay, Roon, TuneIn and Calm. To check the system, you can use the supplied remote control, or, in the alternative, the application for iOS and Android devices.

The list price is set at 2.950 euro.
