“Quick Charge 5” Qualcomm will charge a smartphone to 50% in five minutes
Qualcomm has unveiled its latest standard of quick charging, Quick Charge 5, claiming to be able to load a smartphone with a battery 4,500 mAh battery from 0% to 50% in just 5 minutes.
According to the company, Quick Charge 5 is the solution of charge business the world’s fastest, that supports more than 100 W of power charging for smartphones.
In addition to offering a charge much faster, the new standard is up to 70% more efficient and up to 10 degrees Celsius cooler compared to the Quick Charge 4 and 4+.
Quick Charge is a feature built into many Android phones , and, unfortunately, it is not used by Apple. The chip maker, is launching new integrated circuits the power management for the Android smartphone makers to embed into their devices.
The iPhone has a quick charge function, but charge the device to 50 percent in half an hour. It is not clear if Apple will launch a quick-charge function improved, but up to now there have been rumors that suggest that we’ll see something different in the iPhone models 2020.
Qualcomm says that the first smartphone that will incorporate Quick Charge 5 will arrive in the third quarter of 2020. Quick Charge 5 is supported on mobile platforms Snapdragon 865, 865 Plus and later.
