iOS 14, iPadOS 14, Big Sur, watchOS 7, tvOS 14, transition to ARM processors, and not only that, but also a lot of absences. Here’s everything that Apple presented at WWDC 2020, in spite of the many rumor of the previous days.
The first WWDC virtual in Apple’s history has been much appreciated, both for the type of the event for the news presented. Compared to many rumor laws in the days before the keynote, however, there are so many absences the hardware, since Apple has not introduced any new product.
the iMac and MacBook
Among the main rumor about the news of WWDC 2020 there was theiMac redesigned, with the frames of the most subtle and hardware that contains the Apple chip T2, and a new AMD GPU Ships. The fact that the stock of the current iMac scarseggiassero all over the world has fed this item.
Instead, Apple has not presented any new iMac, the launch of which is expected by the end of the year. The new iMac, the latest Intel processors before the transition to ARM chips custom, is expected in September. Other voices speak instead of an iMac ARM 24-inch that will be presented between the end of 2020 to early 2021.
No news even on the line, the MacBook and the MacBook Pro. Also in this case, the first big news with the MacBook Pro 13-inch and the ARM processor may arrive within the first few months of 2021.
Apple Watch with monitoring of oxygen in the blood
For several months, some very reliable sources talk about this important news coming on the Apple Watch: a sensor to monitor the level of oxygen in the blood. A sensor of this type also means new hardware, for which its inclusion will only come with a future Apple Watch (Series 6?), that Apple has not presented at the last event.
The 2020 should be full of news for the range of AirPods, with the arrival not only of the new generations of headsets, standard and Pro, but also a new model over-ear headphones brand Apple. Some expected the presentation of the AirPods Study during the WWDC 2020, but it is likely that Apple will make this announcement in the month of September, together with the launch of the iPhone 12. It would thus be of headphones, medium-high, which would be in direct competition with the proposed solutions from Bose and Sony, with active noise cancellation.
Perhaps the device that everyone expected to be presented at the last WWDC. This small tracking device should be attached to any object (keys, wallet, bags, etc…) to keep track of it and always know its location, even in case of loss.
Thanks to the AirTag, users will receive a notification when the object it is attached to the tag exceeds a certain distance compared to the iPhone. With the app, Where it will also be possible to view its location or enable the emission of an acoustic sound to locate the lost object. If users can’t find an item, you can insert the tag in a Mode “lost“. With this mode active, if another iPhone user will come across in the lost object, will be able to view the contact information for the owner to contact them via phone or SMS. When a stranger stumbles upon a lost object, the owner will receive a notification on the iPhone.
At this point, the launch is expected by the end of the year. At WWDC 2020, Apple is limited to preparing the ground (and to avoid allegations of antitrust) with the launch of new APIS that allow manufacturers to tag a third party certificate to access the network “Where-is” created by Apple for its devices.
Waiting for three years now, the new Apple TV could have a chip A12 or even the A13 and a remote controller totally renovated. A device that is always more focused on the games Apple Arcade, the presentation of which will likely be delayed between the end of 2020 to early 2021.
And you, what would you have wanted to see at WWDC 2020?
