Like CD Projekt Red with Cyberpunk 2077, IGN has also taken the decision to postpone the kickoff of the Summer of Gaming because of the riots that are rampant in the United States. “We are in solidarity with the Black community and condemn the racism, to ensure our colleagues. Out of respect and support of those who seek legitimate justice and change through the United States and the world, IGN postpones the launch of its event Summer of Gaming to 8 June. Today, IGN is participating in the Blackout Tuesday, a day of reflection, action and engagement for real change.”
They add : “IGN will direct donations to support the legal background of defence NAACP, an organization that helps the legal action and the change over the long term, and also during our broadcast of daily news with NG+. Our sister company, Humble Bundle, announced a $ 1 million fund dedicated to help the games that are published by developers black. This is a start, but we are dedicated to support change on the long-term. We will have more information on how we will continue our fight for justice.” We remind that at the beginning of the Summer of Gaming was to begin on 4 June.
IGN and CD Projekt RED are not the only ones to react that way, since Sony Interactive Entertainment, for example, has to defer to a later date the presentation of the PS5. It would not be surprising that the list is growing, also.
