1 family in 10 in the United States subscribes to Apple TV+
A recent report by analysts Parks Associates, estimates that 9% of us households is a subscriber to Apple TV+.
The report places the service of subscription video streaming to Apple to fifth place in the list of platforms the most popular streaming – behind only Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and Disney +.
“Apple TV+ was launched in the same period, Disney +, but has not recorded an explosive growth like this,” notes the report. “However, with a promotional offer linked to the purchase of Apple devices and a small stable of original programming, the service has reached almost 10% of adoption.”
There are some interesting facts in the report. For example, most of the subscribers Apple TV+ and Disney + subscribe even to Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. The report also suggests that about 69% of the subscribers to the streaming service of Apple has cancelled the registration to another streaming service in the last 12 months. The report, however, does not reveal the reason for the cancellation, making it difficult to ascertain whether this was related to the content of the catalog of Apple TV+.
It should be noted that the relationship is based only on a survey, which was conducted on 10.026 american families that were then used to extrapolate the trends in households across America.
This number is apparently in line with a recent report from Bloomberg, which says that Apple TV+ has about 10 million subscribers. As noted in the report, Apple gave a free year to anyone who has purchased a new iPhone, iPad, MacBook, or Apple TV in the last year. Bloomberg has recently stated that at least half of the users currently subscribed to Apple TV+ you are registered just because they got a year free with the purchase of a new product.
If Apple does not extend the free offer for another year, and probably will register a sharp decline in users. To circumvent the problem, Apple is looking to acquire new content in order to strengthen the catalog of Apple TV+.
