Time for modding for the latest smartphones launched on the market by OnePlus. In the last few hours, in fact, the developer mauronofrio has released a version unofficial of TWRP for OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, taking advantage of the fact that the source codes for the kernel are available to download.

For those not in the know, a custom recovery is one of the two entrance gates to the world of modding for Android smartphones (the other is the unlocking of the bootloader). In the same way, it goes to invalidate the legal guarantee of the manufacturer.

Guide to install TWRP recovery on OnePlus 8

In case you’re interested in installation, you can proceed in two ways: the most simple, requires the official app, but requires root permissions.

In case you do not have access to the root of the smartphone, here we offer you a guide to the installation that requires only a Windows PC and an internet connection:
  • Download the recovery (standard | Pro)
  • Download and install the driver adb/fastboot for Windows PC HERE
  • Download and install the driver for your smartphone
  • Download the recovery for your smartphone, rename it twrp.img and copy it in the folder ADB
  • Enabled the developer options on your smartphone (7 taps on the build number)
  • From the developer options, enable USB Debugging
  • From your Windows computer, enter in the folder ADB and open CMD
  • Connect your smartphone to your PC using the USB cable
  • Type correctly the following text strings to the command prompt or CMD (for each indent then click on Enter): adb devices – adb reboot bootloader – fastboot devices
  • At this point, enter the following string to flash TWRP: fastboot flash recovery twrp recovery.img
