Apple has acquired the weather app Dark Sky, as announced recently by the developers of the application.
In the press release as follows:
Our goal has always been to provide the world with the best weather information possible, to help as many people stay safe, not to bathe and to do all this in the respect of your privacy.
There is no better place to achieve these objectives in the Apple. We are excited to have the opportunity to reach many more people, with a much greater impact than we could ever do alone.
There will be no changes to the app Dark Sky for iOS, which will continue to be available for purchase on the App Store. Dark Sky for Android and WearOS will be suspended starting from 1 July 2020.
Weather forecasts, maps, and information on the website will be available until July 1, 2020. The support to the API and the iOS app will remain available on the website after that date.
Apple has not yet commented on the news.
