MWC 2020 cancelled due to the Coronavirus @BitFeedCo.

After seeing some of the major technology companies give a lump sum for the MWC 2020 Barcelona because of the fear caused by the possible outbreak of Coronavirus, the GSMA (the organization committee of the exhibition) has taken the decision to delete the event.

In a post published by John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA, we learn that:

Since the first edition of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in 2006, the GSMA has brought together industry, governments, ministers, policy-makers, operators and industry leaders. Taking due account of the safe and healthy environment of Barcelona and of the host country, today, the GSMA has canceled MWC Barcelona 2020 because of the global concern for the epidemic of coronavirus, the concern for travel and other circumstances, make it impossible for the GSMA to organise the event.
The group of the host city will respect and understand this decision. The GSMA and all of the groups of the host city will continue to work in unison and support each other for the MWC Barcelona in 2021 and future editions. Our thoughts at this time go to the people affected in China and around the world.

This is surely devastating news for all the facilities, restaurants and shops that relied a lot on the show to boost their economy, just like we did every year. What is certain is that, in a way, in our opinion, right, in front of all was placed the health of the people.

And what about the smartphones that were presented at the fair MWC 2020? For now we do not have any indication but it is evident that companies will organise events in their own right, no longer able to count on the window of the MWC.
