8K Association (8KA) has announced the certification program for TVS with a resolution of 8K. The consortium was formed at the beginning of 2019 to promote everything that revolves around the resolution 8K (televisions, content, etc.), therefore, has created its own sticker – 8K Association Certified – that is to be affixed on all certified products. The requirements were already communicated in August 2019. Them present you here below:
- Resolution: 7680 x 4320 pixels
- Frame rate input: 24, 30, and 60 frames per second
- Screen luminance: 600 cd/m2 – nits
- Codec: hevc analyzer
- Interface: HDMI 2.1
8KA is said to secure that many of the major brands will launch a TV certified in the course of 2020. Currently, the consortium can count on the support of the main panel manufacturers in the world, so much so that in addition it exceeds 70% of the production capacity of the entire market – the data is reported to 2019. The first products that will be certified by the 8KA are the QLED TV Samsung. The company of korea stressed in a statement that reaffirms the commitment as a founding member of the consortium. Hyogun Lee, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said:
We are proud to be among the founding members of the 8K Association and able to show off the certification on our new range of QLED TV 8K. We want to offer consumers the ability to easily distinguish the display 8K premium by the other in the phase of the purchases. Home entertainment and the TV are important investments for many of our consumers and we hope that the logo 8KA will guide them in the choice.
